ENTERING THE CLASSROOM
1.
Enter classroom quietly.
2. Fill out your agenda.
3.
Place everything except Spanish notebook on floor under table, not in aisle.
4. Have homework out
and ready to be checked at the beginning of class. I check homework when I call roll.
5.
Begin working on the warm-up quietly, even if the tardy bell hasn’t rung. You should be in your seat when the tardy bell rings.
WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS
Spanish notebook, agenda, paper, 2 blue/black pens, 1 red pen, and
homework.
WHEN YOU ARE TARDY
1. Wait at door to be motioned in.
2. Sign your name in sign in/sign out book. If you have a note from a teacher/administrator,
quietly show it to me, then staple it to the notebook.
3. Quietly take your seat.
4. No extra time will be given to complete warm-up unless your tardy is excused.
* You MUST have
a valid note from a teacher or an administrator in order for your tardy to be excused. Walking in late and just telling
me that you were talking to such and such teacher will not cut it. If you stay after class to talk with a teacher, you
must get a note from him/her with the date, time, and his/her signature if you think you are going to be late.
WHEN YOU NEED A PEN/PENCIL PAPER
Pencils and paper will be available on the table by the door.
You should be prepared for class each day, but if for some reason you are not, then you may take a sheet of paper and/or a
pencil. You may also ask a classmate if you need a pencil or some paper. Please do not disrupt the class by telling
me you need something to write with.
SHARPENING
YOUR PENCIL
Sharpen pencil before class or during break in activity.
Don’t empty shavings in box. Do NOT use electric sharpener for colored
pencils...use hand-held trimmer only.
LEAVING THE CLASSROOM
If
you need to use the restroom, please do so between classes if possible. If you are having an emergency, you may
ask permission to use the restroom. Sign out on” sign-out sheet”. Please take the appropriate bathroom
pass from the board at the front of the room if granted permission. Sign in upon returning. If you have not been on task, do NOT ask! Please do NOT ask permission while I am speaking!
THROWING AWAY TRASH
Dispose of trash during break in activity or
on your way out the door. It is impolite to get up while someone is speaking to the class. It sends the message that you are
not interested in what they have to say.
FOOD/DRINKS
You may bring a clear bottle of water and leave it on your
desk. You will not leave class for water. You may have a healthy snack at your desk as long as others don’t see
it and I don’t hear you eat it. Don’t make noise opening packages. No crumbs left, etc. No sunflower seeds. No
sharing.
BORROWING AND RETURNING ITEMS
Ask quietly. The borrower moves, not the lender. Do not throw object.
WHEN YOU ARE ABSENT
You are responsible for
getting missed assignment. You can check the absence folder, check with your partner, check
the homework assignments written on the board, check Señorita Wilson’s web site (http://srtawilson.tripod.com), and/or ask Miss. Wilson.
When turning in work late due to absence, staple a green make-up work form to it.
HOMEWORK
Finish it at home, not in my room when I’m collecting
it. It will NOT be accepted late!!!!!
EXCHANGING PAPERS TO GRADE
Occasionally we may grade each other’s papers as a
group. The only marks you are allowed to make on others’ papers are to sign your name at the bottom, to mark an “X”
and the number they got incorrect. You are to use your red pen.
KEEPING YOUR NOTEBOOK
Your notebook should include a 10” by 8” pouch to store your pens, flash cards, and other materials. You should always have blank notebook paper in your notebook. In addition, you will need 10 dividers with the following headings:
· El calendario - calendar, rules, procedures,
study log, and other class documents
· Las prácticas – warm-ups and blank paper
· Vocabulario – vocabulary
· Las actividades de la clase – classroom
activities
· La cultura - culture
· Las canciones - songs
· Los cuentos – stories
· Las composiciones – compositions, writing
activities
· La tarea – homework
· Los exámenes y examencitos - tests and quizzes
Write
page numbers on every assignment. File all papers in the correct location immediately. Open the rings to remove sheets. Organize
your notebook weekly. Notebook quizzes will be given periodically.
MOVING AROUND THE ROOM
Use the aisles. Do not walk between tables.
PASSING IN PAPERS
Pass your papers across the rows, not up the rows. Place
your paper on the desk to your right. The next student adds his or her paper to the stack and places the papers on the next
desk. Do not pass the papers from hand to hand. I will pick up the papers, or ask a student to pick up all the papers.
HEADING YOUR PAPERS
Name (First, Last) (10pts. off for no name.)
Date
Class Period
Title should be written on the very top line of page. Notebook Page# will go in the
bottom right corner of every page. You may write on the back of your papers.
You may use pen or pencil.
WHEN YOU FINISH EARLY
1. Read silently.
2. Check over work for correctness.
3. Study notes.

5. Help out teacher or another
student.

There is no excuse for you disturbing others just because
you have finished.
RESPONDING TO INTERCOM AND TV ANNOUNCEMENTS
Immediate silence. Everyone listens, but no one speaks.
WATCHING VIDEOS
You will not change seats. Hall pass not available.
WHEN ADULT OR STUDENT ENTERS ROOM
Continue quietly doing what you were doing. Do not speak
to adult guests unless you are spoken to first. Never speak to student guests.
LINING UP & WALKING DOWN HALL
Line up down side of room single –file. Do not open
door until instructed. Walk single file two feet behind the person in front of you, with hands by your sides.
You should face forward at all times. There will be absolutely no talking.
BOOK SHELVES
Do not sit on them. Ask before using a book.
MY DESK
Ask first before borrowing something.
TABLES
Do not sit on tables. Try to keep your table as clean as
possible. When using markers, please place a sheet of paper under the page you are marking.
USING SINKS
Turn water on slowly and use a gentle flow
so as not to splash. Wipe the water from counter top before leaving.
DURING AN ASSEMBLY
Do not speak and do not look around and try to get the attention of your friends. Give the presenter
your full attention.
EXITING
TAKES PRIORITY OVER ENTERING
Allow
people to exit through a doorway before you enter.
ALWAYS LEAVE AN AREA LOOKING BETTER THAN WHEN YOU FIRST ARRIVED.
Wherever you are try to make it look nicer and straighter before you leave, even if you didn’t
make it messy. Examples of how include: picking up trash, straightening chairs,
erasing pencil and pen marks, wiping up water, etc.
WHEN SOMEONE IS ON THE PHONE
Keep your voices down so the person can hear.
WINNING AND LOSING
Lose with grace, win with
humility.
FIRE DRILL
Exit quietly out of my room. Students should turn around
and stand facing building quietly. Remain until bell sounds.
TORNADO
DRILL
Exit my room, stoop down in front of lockers, with hands over heads.
LOCK
DOWN
Go to the back of the room. Lock the door. Close blinds and turn off light. You should squat or
sit down.
END-OF-PERIOD DISMISSAL
At the end of each class period you will wait to be dismissed
by me. The bell is a signal to let me know the instruction time has end. I will release you. I expect you to work until the end of class, especially
if I give you time to work on your homework. Before you leave, make sure your
desk is clean, pick up trash on floor, and push your chair under your table. Look
around and make sure you are not leaving anything. Teacher will dismiss you, not the bell.
END-OF-DAY
DISMISSAL
Return to your seats and clean up area around your desk.
Place your chair on top of your table. Look around and make sure you are not leaving anything. Teacher will dismiss
you, not the TV.
WHEN I HAVE A SUBSTITUTE
